Local Activities & Fund Raising

TS Amethyst has proudly served in the Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield area since the 1950's and we are proud to serve the community in whatever way we can

Our proudest moments will always be when on parade, and TS Amethyst will always be present at the Rememberance Sunday services held in various locations in Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City every November.
We also have a very close link with the Royal Navy Association and proudly paraded for the residents of Welwyn Garden City to commemorate the Royal British Legion's 50th year on 19th March 2006.

Fund-raising for any organisation can be a challenge but TS Amethyst's cadets do like some activity to be seen serving the community, and our cadets proudly wear their no.1 uniforms to do bag-packing at Marks & Spencer and Morrissons in Welwyn Garden City and also at Asda in Hatfield.
We also have Flag Days periodically throughout the year, and again our cadets will wear their no.1 uniforms while on duty.

Not all of the time at TS Amethyst is ceremonial and fun-raising, and we are fortunate to have Stanborough Park in relatively close proximity to our unit to permit regular maritime weekends where the cadets can put to active use all that they have learnt.
Sea Cadets enjoy water and any excuse to get close to water is eagerly accepted with regular sailing, power-boating & canoeing activities taking place locally.
Such weekends also allow the possibility of weekend camps where the cadets will generally be involved in a weekend of activities with the added attraction of an overnight sleepover.
